XL Power Nimbus 550 Nitro kit

A builder’s kit of a high performance 550 class 3D helicopter with 120° CCPM swashplate and flybarless main rotor for 550–580 mm blades for 8–10 ccm (.50–.60 cu inch) two-stroke glow engine. Contens: a complete set of the mechanic/airframe parts and manual; not included: engine, tuned pipe, electronic equipment, main and tail rotor blades.

Nimbus 550 Nitro is a high-performance 3D nitro RC helicopter utilizing proven concepts of the electric Nimbus 550 and IC-powered Specter 700 Nitro and delivering unique innovation improving simplicity of assembly and setting up and reliability of operation.

The heart of the heli is built around the robust single-piece 7075 aluminium bearing block assembly and servo mount enhancing the overall rigidity and stability of both the frame and drive train.

120° CCPM swash plate with longer outer swash plate balls and optimized geometry is controlled by three mini servos and a high-precision linkage system providing the same level of control authority the electric Nimbus 550 is famous for.

The advanced clutch stack system aids in providing simple engine alignment. The dedicated clutch and motor assembly jigs are supplied in the kit. The tapered joints in the clutch stack ensure a smooth and low-vibration operation. Servicing the engine is also a breeze thanks to the ability of the engine being removable from the bottom without disassembling other parts. The fan shroud also shares this concept; each side can also be removed from the frame.

The rudder servo and tail control linkage rod are positioned above the tail boom to achieve better vertical mass distribution. Like with the Specter 700 Nitro, a quick assembly tail control linkage rod that does not require glue is used.

The tail boom does not need boom supports thanks to a strong 27mm diameter carbon tube. The tail gearbox is installed in a one-piece aluminium case for easy assembly and maintenance.

Recommended main rotor blades: 550–580 mm carbon.

Recommended RC set: At least 7-channel computer transmitter w. heli program.
Recommended cyclic and throttle servos: Mini size (35 mm case length) - like MKS HV9767, KAVAN GO-1035MG.
Recommended tail servo: Standard size - like MKS HBL669, KAVAN GO-11T80.
Flybarless control unit: Futaba CGY760R, CGY755, Bavarian Demon BD 3X, BD AXON, etc.
Suitable engine: .50–60 cu inch (8–10 ccm) heli two-stroke glow engine with a tuned pipe - like O.S MAX 55 HZ HYPER or 555 HZ-R HYPER with the PowerBoost 55 tuned pipe.
Suitable receiver battery: 2S LiPo 1500–2200 mAh.
